A close friend confessed that she missed the human connection on the zoom calls. She longed to get back to the office and meet people in real-time. On the contrary, I have had the most beautiful conversations and productive outcomes while attending online meetings. My best experience has been in the Interintellect Salons held online, where I had some of my most memorable moments of meaningful connection and engagement in 2020. Each experience of 3 hours long calls has been intellectually stimulating, but they seem to have cracked the code for creating a series of “human moments” for most of…

My excitement of moving to a new continent was short-lived. A few months into this adventure, I had a new friend for company. I enjoyed spending time with its benevolent twin, solitude. I am not your typical social butterfly, but I do enjoy meeting and spending time with people. A few months spent with this new friend brought in a lot of changes in me. The pangs of pain that surrounded my lonely soul manifested physically from eating issues to falling sick. …

If Homer would be here today, he might have been busy writing the Iliad of the modern era. Like the olden times, the villages and cities communing together to celebrate the victory after a long and arduous battle. As the church bells chimed in Paris and the fireworks lit the sky, the virus was forgotten for a brief moment. It made me contemplate and reflect on this event. What was this event that brought the world together for these brief moments of relief and celebration?

There aren’t any answers but I wanted to pen down my thoughts as a record…

After two months of continuity in creating and writing, I found myself in a rather dark space. For few weeks, I drowned myself in an unproductive state of wallowing and despair. I find myself in these moments where I teleport myself from a state of creation to disillusion. I don’t have a clue and find myself struggling for inspiration. Creativity for me is more of an outlet of writing poems and articles for my social project. But there is an innate desire to write poems and articles that speak to the soul. However, there is no tardiness since there are…

“Depend upon it there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones.” — Sherlock Holmes in “In Study of Scarlet”

Sometimes I forget that Sherlock is a fictional character because he seems so real. This excerpt brings me to today.

Did you relate to the above statement ? This has been on top of my mind for the past few days. I think it extends to all spheres of knowledge and in fact, life in…

The other day I was watching my 1.2 year old nephew playing with blocks. It was one of the toys where you need to put the different shaped blocks into the corresponding slot. He kept trying and failed at few attempts. Then he managed to put all the blocks into the slots and he started clapping with joy. We all also joined in to clap with him at his achievement. It was a practice at home to positively reinforce the little one’s effort by clapping with him and telling him “good job”. Many a time, the benevolent parents treat him…

With Women’s Day upon us, there is a barrage of initiatives, articles and offers that have hit me. This is nothing new. There is heightened awareness on the need for equality and progress for women. While the larger issue of gender gap, equality and freedom for women across different ethos of life cannot be addressed so conveniently, this day is largely celebrated in the educated world as a token of recognizing the need to bring the needed parity.

As I was travelling to my workplace seated comfortably in the confines of a cab, I saw a woman vendor standing tall…

The Whiteplate

As a child, whenever I used to see the chinaware being fetched out of the cupboard, I would be elated. There would be an air of excitement in the house. Mama would finish her cooking and then get us ready. She would then announce that we were going to have guests. I for one was more excited about having my food in the white shiny porcelain plate. The dishes served on the plates would vary from delicious biriyani to simple meals. My joy remained the same irrespective of the changing menu. I think as kids we are so…

While Finding Dory, I found this.

It is a joy to go and watch movies with children. They shed all their inhibitions. and really enjoy the moment. I have been a fan of such genre of movies. I always leave the theatre with some reflections and analogies. While I had a gala time while watching Finding Dory, I had some takeaways that may or may not make sense for everybody:). Here they are :

Just Keep Swimming. – Yes, we got to keep swimming irrespective of the situations. There will be tides and currents in life but we cannot give…

A couple who took on themselves to build a private sanctuary and contribute to the increase in forest cover. A young woman who left her cushy job to direct a beautiful movie. A creative duo who discovered their own hidden skills apart from art. A man who discovered himself and his purpose through his own journey of self discovery. A sportsperson who dreams and is working to make our country shine in other arenas of sport. A famous DJ who believes that life is about finding out who you are and living up to…
